How long do glow in the dark stars last?
Unlike glow sticks and old school ceiling stars, the new generation strontium aluminate based stars can be recharged charged over and over. They will glow all night for many years.
Strontium aluminate, the newest non toxic glow material, doesn't lose its ability to recharge easily. I've tested this from posters painted over 10 years ago like the Pleiades poster (2012) above, they're as bright as the day I painted them. You’ll notice that your glow art and stars are brighter at the beginning of the night than just before dawn. The difference in brightness happens because the light has been discharging all night and just needs to be recharged the next day. (If you can't wait you can blast it with a top up during the night.)
How I Charge Glow in the Dark Stars
As an artist I started using glow in the dark paint in 2011 and it is an amazing medium of constantly moving and changing light. All my paints are exclusive, almost every project I paint requires a different formula, these are many times brighter than glow in the dark printed inks. The paint I select, how the art is charged and different lighting conditions all work together to make the art change and look different from night to night, and even at different times of the night. All my work glows for approx. 12 hours with sufficient charging with bright light. Using a room's natural daylight and a 10 minute top up with a bright light at night is sufficient to get that all night glow....
Glow in the Dark Star Canopies
“I think this is one of the best birthday gifts I have bought for my daughter. Before she goes to bed each night, her and I spend sometime gazing at the stars! Thank you for such an awesome product!” I loved this review from Etsy! When I designed the first glow in the dark star canopy for a little girl’s birthday in New Zealand in 2012 I painted it outside on a windy day…I didn’t think I’d make another but more than 300,000 stars later I’m so happy they are still making nice birthday gifts! …and since then they’ve been sent to many places worldwide. – If you sleep under a star canopy, thank you!!! I’ve had so much fun painting...

Why are my glow in the dark stars not glowing?
Trouble shooting ~ If you're using high quality glow in the dark stars, charging them with daylight/sunlight and a quick top up at night with a bright room light is usually enough for a bright glow. Here are a few extra tips if you run into trouble: ☀️ DARKEN THE ROOM Make sure the room is dark for viewing, moon light or street light flooding in from the windows can wash out the glow. ☀️ USE EXTRA LIGHT IN DIM ROOMS Basements/darker rooms will need a bright room light to compensate, use a bright room light and get direct light on the mural. Use lights like UV tubes, CFLs, Fluorescent tubes or floor lamps angled at the ceiling. You can also use...
Moving Glow in the Dark Moon Decals
I loved inventing these unique glow in the dark Moon decals! The full Moon slowly moves to a crescent Moon over the space of about an hour. How awesome is that!? I love these! They remind me of an eclipse or the actual phases of the Moon.
The crescent Moon will continue glowing on your bedroom wall all night long. Kids adore having these on their bedroom ceilings! You can find a moving Moon star ceiling package here.
Removable Reusable Star Murals

Glow in the Dark Star Ceiling Canopies
Glow in the dark ceiling canopies are made from translucent light-weight fabric. They are exclusive to Stella Murals as the first one in the world originated here!
The one below was painted with glowing stars and the Milky Way. I love to paint these with constellations and wisps of star dust.
What makes these unique starry canopies special is their versatility. You can easily pin them to the ceiling, transforming any room into a luminous star haven. They can be removed easily any time.
This star ceiling canopy was first painted for a romantic starlit oasis in the Arizona desert. So there’s a little whisper of desert wind in each one. :)Here they are!
